GITA Research Group
Advancing knowledge in signal processing, communications systems, and optical networks at Universidad de Antioquia, Medellín.
Research Lines
Three core areas driving our scientific contributions.

Pattern Analysis and Signal Processing
We analyse bio-signals (speech, gait, handwriting) from patients with neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Our aim is cutting-edge technology for automatic detection and unobtrusive monitoring.

Communication's Systems Modeling
Focused on planning, dimensioning, management, and theoretical analysis of communication networks — both wireless and wired. We study emerging architectures for the Future Internet.

Optical Communications
Design and implementation of optical communication systems such as PON, Radio-over-Fiber, and WDM networks, supported by DSP and Machine Learning for impairment monitoring and mitigation. The line also develops 2D-material-based photonic devices, including graphene-based ultrafast and pulsed lasers.
